Pre-Festival Concert: 26th September, Speyside Hotel, Piano Pieces by Dmytro Morykit; Andrew Harden, clarinettist with Braeriach Quartet, 8pm (optional supper 7pm)
Concert Friday 27th September, British Legion, 7.30pm, starring Paul Anderson, Shona Donaldson, Feis Spe Junior Band, Monadh Ruadh (Feis Spe), Reel Scotch, Belle Voce Community Choir and the Badenoch Ladies Waulking Group.
Competition to find the Fiddler of Strathspey, and for group entries, Saturday 28th September, 10am in the YM Community Cinema
Workshops for children and adults throughout Saturday 28th September: Gaelic singing, Singing, Drumming, Moothie, Fiddle, Waulking the Cloth, in the YM Community Centre and the Ben Mhor. Workshop Concert - participants can show off their skills. 4pm YM Community Cinema. All welcome.
Ceilidh Saturday 28th September, the Ben Mhor Hotel, 7pm with Forres Accordion and Fiddle Players and more.
Open Sessions with Paul Anderson in the Ben Mhor, Saturday 28th September.
Heritage Walk with Music, 10.30am; Family Fun Walk 1.30pm Sunday 29th September from the Hub, High Street, Grantown-on-Spey, to join the Picnic with Music in the Park, Grant Park, Sunday afternoon (YM if weather inclement)

About the Fiddler of Strathspey Festival
Held in Grantown-on-Spey annually, a celebration of the work of Angus Cumming and the rich Strathspey tradition, providing a stage for
musicians young and old, novices and masters.
Fiddlers and other traditional musicians take part in a celebration of “the strathspey” in all its forms, its music, its songs and its dance.
One of the aims is to promote traditional music in Strathspey and generate more regular workshops and sessions for players of all abilities.

The Grantown Society
Organisers of the Fiddler of Strathspey Festival - thegrantownsociety.org The Grantown Society was formed in 1974. Membership is open to anyone interested in the aims of the Society, which are: a) To locate sources of information regarding the development of the community. b) To record this information and to make it available to the public and other interested parties. c) To stimulate public interest in, and care of, the beauty, history, culture and character of the area of the town and its surroundings. d) To encourage the conservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historical interest. |
